SEO Package FAQ's
What is SEO?
SEO stands for search engine optimisation.
In short, SEO is the process of improving your website in order to increase the number and positioning of your keyword rankings within search engines.
SEO generates organic traffic. Organic traffic is website traffic that you don’t have to pay for, unlike PPC where you pay a cost per click (CPC) fee.
This means that once your site is ranking well, there’s no major advertising budget required to maintain your rankings and traffic.
SEO isn’t a one size fits all solution. There are thousands of strategies and tactics to optimise a website, from page speed and user experience, to technical SEO and link building.
As search engines like Google evolve and update their algorithms, so do the various tactics and techniques used by SEO professionals across the globe.
Why is SEO important?
SEO is important because it’s an incredibly valuable traffic source. By appearing at the top of Google search for keywords related to your product or service, you will instantly generate traffic and revenue.
SEO is competitive. You’ll find that keywords on page two (or beyond) of Google will receive little to no traffic. Everyone is competing for a place on the first page of the results.
By achieving page one rankings, you not only gain lots of relevant traffic but you also position your brand as an authority on the chosen subject matter.
How much does an SEO package cost?
Every website has different goals, keyword targets and levels of competition. It’s factors like this that will determine how much work is required to improve your keyword rankings, resulting in a bespoke SEO package from our SEO experts.
For example, a brand new startup may simply want to begin ranking in organic search and target a small number of commercial keywords. Whereas a large e-commerce store may have hundreds of products, all with their own unique keyword groups, that need to be targeted.
During an initial strategy call, we’ll be able to give you a much better idea of the SEO package we would recommend for your business.
How long does it take to get results from SEO?
Again, your industry, competition and target keywords will all be factors to consider here. A website that has already had some SEO input and is ranking on pages two to three for commercial keywords will require much less time than a brand new website with no existing rankings.
When starting a new SEO campaign, we usually look for a combination of short-term, quick win keywords as well as long-term, high-value keywords.
Quick win keywords are valuable terms that are either low competition and easy to compete for, or keywords the site is already ranking for relatively well. By targeting these keywords we can improve organic traffic levels very quickly and begin generating new organic traffic at a very early stage.
In the background, we will also be working towards the more competitive keywords that will require more time and effort to achieve a page one ranking. While these keywords are harder to rank, they are often very lucrative with thousands of monthly searches from users that have a high chance of converting.
Will my results drop if I stop doing SEO?
One of the great things about SEO is that you don’t require a monthly advertising budget, as you do with PPC. This means if you were to attain strong rankings and then stop all SEO, you will still maintain a level of organic traffic at first.
Keep in mind that competitors will be improving their own SEO and working towards the same keywords as you. So while organic traffic is much more stable, it will quickly drop as competitors begin to outrank you or as algorithms change and require new SEO tactics.
A strong level of SEO maintenance is always preferred. This will help to safeguard your rankings and ensure you continue to rank competitively once strong rankings have been achieved for your target keywords.
What does an SEO package include?
Our SEO packages are completely bespoke and will cater to your site’s needs. We often begin with a technical SEO audit which is a detailed analysis of your website structure, optimisation and any errors/issues that need to be resolved.
If your website is brand new or has been built by our design team, we don’t expect to find a huge amount of errors to fix. This means we can move straight into keyword analysis, content production and on-page optimisation.
We will begin mapping which pages should rank for which keyword groups and implement tactical on-page changes to improve your rankings.
Larger websites with more history or a large number of pages may require a more technical campaign to fix long standing issues and to make the site more user-friendly to both users and Google.
We have Bronze, Silver and Gold SEO packages which will determine the number of monthly SEO hours a website receives. After a strategy call with our team, we will be able to provide an estimate of how many hours and which tactics will be needed to deliver the best results.
What is Technical SEO?
Technical SEO is the process of improving technical aspects of a website in order to improve its organic rankings and search appearance. A big part of technical SEO is implementing backend optimisations that allow search engines to crawl, index and rank your website more efficiently.
What is On-page SEO?
On-page SEO refers to the optimisation of any frontend web pages and content to improve its appearance in search. Essentially, any tweak made to a page of your website for SEO purposes can be classed as on-page SEO. Standard on-page SEO tactics are the optimisation of page titles, meta descriptions, creating keyword-optimised content, image optimisation and much more.
What is Off-page SEO?
Off-page SEO refers to any activity taken to improve your website rankings that does not take place on your own website. Off-page SEO is usually centred around link building, the process of building links from external websites to improve your SEO and authority. It can also include other strategies that benefit SEO such as social media marketing, digital PR, influencer marketing and more.
How does SEO compare to PPC?
With PPC campaigns, you are paying for your website traffic and usually paying a fee for every click. This can result in large advertising spends that take a toll on your marketing budget.
The benefit of SEO is that no advertising budget is required. Once you attain a page one ranking for a keyword, that traffic is yours. There are no fees and you don’t have to pay search engines for organic traffic.
SEO, however, is competitive and it takes time to achieve page one rankings. PPC allows you to generate significant traffic from month one, but you will be paying a considerable fee to do so.
